Whoever came up with the phrase ‘second is the best’ didn’t make it from scores of resumes stacks, to dozens of phone interviews, to half a dozen in person interviews, to three people teaching sample lessons, to two people getting their references checking to being told they were second. Being told “this was the most agonizing decision of my career” doesn’t help and being assured “I’m sure someone will snatch you right up” doesn’t feel best. At all. Boo.
